Plastic Pollution Reduction Act: Informed Solutions

The PPRA (SB21-1162) went into effect January 2023. As Colorado moves towards further implementation of the Act, making data-driven decisions will allow municipalities and businesses to reduce plastic pollution in their communities. From how restaurants can replace single-use plastics to how municipalities can adopt effective legislation, this panel will share insight into the information needed to make choices to serve your community.
Panelists/Presenters:
Rachel Setzke is the Sr. Policy & Research Associate at Eco-Cycle. She has been with Eco-Cycle since 2019 researching trends and best practices in recycling, compost and Zero Waste in order to support Eco-Cycle’s education and advocacy work. Her work focuses on providing policy and program solutions at the community and state levels as well as studying diversion access, trends and scalable solutions across Boulder County and Colorado. Rachel is the co-author of the annual State of Recycling and Composting in Colorado Report as well as a report for CDPHE on access to recycling and composting in Greater Colorado. She is proud to be an active member of Recycle Colorado’s Rural Colorado Working Group.
Megan Daum is the vice president of sustainability at the American Beverage Association (ABA), where she oversees the industry’s sustainability programs, policies and activities. Prior to joining ABA, Megan was the vice president of sustainability at the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), where she headed the sustainability program for thirteen years. She has sat on various U.S. and International Committees on packaging, policy and sustainability. She has a Master’s Degree from the University of Vermont and lives in Washington DC.
