Elected officials receive leadership training awards
DENVER, Colo. – Monday, June 24, 2024 – During the Colorado Municipal League’s (CML) recent 102nd Annual Conference, CML recognized municipal elected officials statewide who reached milestone levels in its MUNIversity program – a leadership program for Colorado’s municipal elected officials.
This program was started in January 1991 by the League’s Executive Board to recognize the efforts of officials who go the extra mile to increase their knowledge of municipal government and their capacity to lead.
To reach the Graduate level of the program, officials must complete 100 credit hours. Officials who reached this elite level were:
- Marlo Alston, City of Centennial council member
- Filbert Archuleta, Town of Garden City mayor
- Marty Asplin, Town of Del Norte trustee
- Steve Conklin, City of Edgewater mayor
- Steven J. Douglas, City of Commerce City mayor
- John Marriott, City of Arvada council member
- Stephanie Piko, City of Centennial mayor
- Don S. Sheehan, City of Centennial council member
- Sharon Thompson, City of Fountain mayor
- Laura Weinberg, City of Golden mayor
To reach the Leadership level of the program, officials must complete 60 credit hours. Officials who achieved this goal were:
- Françoise Bergan, City of Aurora council member
- Michael Carson, City of Alamosa city councilor
- Guyleen Castriotta, City and County of Broomfield mayor
- Detra Duncan, City of Fountain, council member
- Tracy Engerman, City of Castle Pines, mayor
- Dave Frank, City of Montrose, mayor pro tem
- John S. Hamrick, City of Cañon City, mayor pro tem
- Richard Holt, City of Centennial council member
- David Kerber, City of Greenwood Village mayor pro tem
- Kevin Lindell, City of Fort Morgan mayor
- Mike Mahoney, Town of Lochbuie mayor
- Rachel Medina, City of Cortez mayor
- Candy Meehan, Town of Norwood mayor
- Joan Peck, City of Longmont mayor
- Dana Sherman, City of Brush! Mayor
- Anna Stout, City of Grand Junction council member
- Christine Sweetland, City of Centennial council member
- Melissa Trenary, City of Cripple Creek council member
- Barry William Wilson, Town of Windsor mayor
