In 2021, the General Assembly passed House Bill 21-1162, the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act. As a result, a statewide fee of 10 cents on plastic and paper bags will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023.
On Nov. 2, 2022, CML, Recycle Colorado, and Colorado Counties, Inc. hosted a webinar and workgroup to discuss the implementation of the law, including best practices for collecting the fee from retail establishments, communication tips, and education resources, and an overview of commonly asked questions.
